Rodenticide Stewardship: History, Science, and Innovation

Virtual Event

Meeting to be held virtually

Course Description

Join the Washington State Pest Management Association (WSPMA) for an informative and thought-provoking webinar on Rodenticide Stewardship, exploring the historical evolution and cutting-edge science behind rodenticides. This two-hour virtual event will feature two expert-led sessions, designed to enhance your understanding of rodenticide use, regulatory progress, and the importance of reducing risks to non-target species.

  • Session 1 (8:00 AM – 9:00 AM PST):
    Advancing Rodenticide Research and Stewardship
Featuring Dr. Katherine Horak (USDA), this session will delve into the development of physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models for anticoagulant rodenticides such as warfarin and diphacinone. Dr. Horak will discuss how these models estimate rodenticide residues in tissues, improving our understanding of their impact on non-target species like birds and mammals.

  • Session 2 (9:00 AM – 10:00 AM PST):
    The History of Rodenticides
Presented by Jon Paulsen, this session will explore the historical context of rodenticide development, tracing the evolution of pest control strategies and regulatory milestones. Learn how stewardship principles have shaped safer, more effective approaches to rodent control over time.

Why Attend:

  • Gain valuable insights from industry and research experts.
  • Learn about the historical evolution and scientific advancements in rodenticide stewardship.
  • Enhance your knowledge of best practices to minimize risks to non-target species.

Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen your expertise and contribute to responsible pest management practices.
