Today, Ecology is issuing the revised Aquatic Mosquito Control general permit. The previous permit was issued in June 2019 and is scheduled to expire July 4, 2024. Ecology has worked with numerous permittees, as well as staff at WSDA, DOH and WDFW during the development of the new permit. The revised permit and associated documents are available on the permit web site: https://ecology.wa.gov/ mosquitopermit. The new permit becomes effective on June 20, 2024, and expires on June 20, 2029.
Purpose of the Permit
This permit provides statewide coverage for the use of specific insecticides to control mosquitoes. Businesses and government entities that apply either mosquito larvicides or adulticides to waters of the State must obtain permit authorization for their discharge. This permit does not apply to homeowner use of insecticides for residential control of mosquitoes.
