We Can Be the Generation to Beat Malaria

Malaria is a deadly but preventable disease that continues to threaten millions of lives worldwide. Every minute, a child dies from malaria. While malaria is not common in the United States, the fight against this disease is a global effort—one that can save lives, protect communities, and create a healthier world for future generations.

From April 25 – May 10, 2025, WSPMA is participating in Move Against Malaria, a virtual event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for malaria prevention and treatment. We’ve set a goal of $1,000, and with your help, we can reach it. Whether you choose to walk, run, or donate, your contribution will make a difference in the fight against malaria.

About United to Beat Malaria

United to Beat Malaria (formerly Nothing But Nets) is the world’s largest grassroots campaign dedicated to protecting vulnerable families from malaria. Led by the United Nations Foundation, this campaign brings together advocates, organizations, and partners to raise awareness and secure funding for life-saving interventions such as bed nets, household spraying, malaria testing, treatment, and vaccines. Since its launch in 2006, United to Beat Malaria has helped protect over 42 million people across 61 countries and raised over $79 million.

How Can We Beat Malaria?

Malaria prevention relies on simple, cost-effective solutions:
Bed Nets – Long-lasting insecticidal nets provide essential protection from malaria-carrying mosquitoes.
Household Spraying – Targeted indoor spraying helps reduce mosquito populations in vulnerable communities.
Testing & Treatment – Early detection and prompt treatment are critical in preventing malaria deaths.
Vaccines – New malaria vaccines offer hope for long-term malaria control and elimination.

Our Collective Impact

In 2024 alone, United to Beat Malaria protected 1,674,225 people through comprehensive prevention, testing, and treatment programs. The initiative prioritizes communities most at risk—young children, pregnant women, refugees, internally displaced persons, and frontline health workers. Through advocacy, supporters have helped secure increased U.S. funding for malaria programs, including the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), the Global Fund, and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
