The powerful short documentary shares the realities of human trafficking and the work required to help survivors reach safety.
Safe House Project has officially released its award-winning short documentary, A Way Out. The film is now available to watch free on YouTube and is also available through Apple TV, with additional streaming platforms expected to follow.
Created by Safe House Project, the documentary offers a powerful look at the realities of child trafficking in the United States and the critical work required to help survivors find safety. Through storytelling and firsthand experiences, the film shows that identifying a trafficking victim is only the beginning. Survivors still need trained professionals, transportation, safe housing, restorative care and long-term support to begin rebuilding their lives.
Safe House Project created A Way Out to educate communities, inspire action and show what it takes to help survivors reach safety.
The documentary has already received significant recognition, including the Diamond Globe Award for Best Documentary at the New York International Film Festival, as well as Gold and Silver Telly Awards.
While those honors recognize the quality and impact of the film, Safe House Project emphasizes that the most important outcome is what happens after people watch it. The organization hopes the documentary will encourage viewers to better understand trafficking, share the film with others and support the work that helps survivors find a true way out.
According to Safe House Project, more than 113,500 reports involving children being sold for sex reached the national tipline last year. However, a report does not automatically mean that a child has been located or brought to safety. Safe House Project works alongside partners throughout the country to help bridge that gap.
The mission of Safe House Project has resonated deeply with the Washington State Pest Management Association's Professional Women in Pest Management chapter.
For the past two years, WSPMA PWIPM has raised funds for Safe House Project in conjunction with its annual Steps of Hope networking event. The gathering gives pest management professionals, families and friends an opportunity to connect while supporting an organization making a meaningful difference in the lives of trafficking survivors.

The funds raised help Safe House Project continue its work to increase survivor identification, support safe housing programs and connect survivors with the resources they need to begin healing.
