Important Update: Idaho Reciprocal Licensing Changes

Information from the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA)

Action Recommended: Existing Washington licensees who originally obtained their license through Idaho reciprocity are encouraged to recertify with WSDA using continuing education credits earned in Washington.

The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) recently mailed letters to licensees who renewed within the last two years and obtained their Washington pesticide applicator license through reciprocity with Idaho.

These notifications outline upcoming changes to reciprocal licensing requirements resulting from updates to certification rules. The changes will become effective on January 1, 2027.

WSDA recommends that current reciprocal license holders begin preparing for this transition by maintaining their certification through Washington's recertification process using approved Washington continuing education credits.

Additional Information

Copies of the letters mailed by WSDA, along with additional information regarding Idaho reciprocity, are available on the WSDA Idaho Reciprocal Licensing webpage.

Licensees who obtained their Washington license through Idaho reciprocity are encouraged to review the information and understand how these changes may affect future certification and renewal requirements.

This notice is being shared as a resource for Washington pest management professionals. Questions regarding certification requirements should be directed to the Washington State Department of Agriculture.
