WSDA, USDA announce eradication of northern giant hornet from the United States

The WSDA and USDA announced the eradication of the northern giant hornet from Washington and the United States after three years with no detections. This success, achieved through collaboration with agencies and community efforts, protects pollinators, agriculture, and ecosystems. Originally detected in 2019, the invasive species posed significant threats to honey bees and native insects. Vigilance continues despite eradication, as hornets could reappear. Trapping efforts will persist as a precaution.
