As an Association we strive to create an environment that allows industry awareness and a sense of comradery. Our relationships with Members of the WSPMA are open and honest and help to provide self discipline. Through the volunteer efforts of our Members we have grown into a fantastic organization that will continue to serve the needs of our Members.

Nominations Now Open: 2026 WSPMA Annual Awards

WSPMA is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Annual Awards through June 30, 2026. Awards include PestVet of the Year, PWIPM of the Year, and the Industry Impact Award, recognizing leadership, service, and industry impact. Winners will be honored at the Awards & Auction Dinner during the Summer Meeting on August 20 and receive complimentary registration. The PWIPM winner also receives a two-night hotel stay, and the PestVet winner advances to national consideration.

WSPMA Members Make History at First Legislative Day

WSPMA members participated in the association’s first Legislative Day at the Washington State Capitol, meeting with more than 15 lawmakers to discuss the role of licensed pest management professionals in protecting public health and the environment. Members testified against HB 2516, sharing real-world concerns about rodent management. The day highlighted the power of member advocacy and strengthened WSPMA’s presence and relationships in Olympia.

Members discussed opening nominations for Washington PWIPM of the Year, plans for PWIPM at the Park, participation in the Pacific Branch ESA meeting, and potential regional meetups. Next steps include promoting nominations, organizing conference hospitality, developing event materials, and exploring community service opportunities.

Washington Friends of Farms & Forests (WFFF) Legislative Update

Washington’s 2026 legislative session is underway, with a compressed 60-day timeline, a $2B budget shortfall, and heavy focus on taxes, labor, environmental policy, and pesticides. Over 900 bills are in play, moving quickly. Key issues for pest management businesses include proposed rodenticide restrictions (HB 2516), PFAS oversight in pesticides (HB 2279), expanded collective bargaining bills, and increased environmental enforcement. Engagement and advocacy are critical early this session.
