WSPMA Attends Washington Friends of Farms and Forests Legislative Reception
Government Affairs
WSPMA attended the Washington Friends of Farms and Forests Legislative Reception in Olympia, connecting with leaders from agriculture, forestry, and manufacturing to engage with state legislators. WSPMA President Steve Wittig represented the association and participated in productive conversations, including an in-depth discussion with Representative Morgan on HB 2516 and the importance of science-based pest management in protecting public health, homes, businesses, and the food supply.

Nominations Now Open: 2026 WSPMA Annual Awards
WSPMA is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Annual Awards through June 30, 2026. Awards include PestVet of the Year, PWIPM of the Year, and the Industry Impact Award, recognizing leadership, service, and industry impact. Winners will be honored at the Awards & Auction Dinner during the Summer Meeting on August 20 and receive complimentary registration. The PWIPM winner also receives a two-night hotel stay, and the PestVet winner advances to national consideration.

WSPMA Members Make History at First Legislative Day

WSPMA members participated in the association’s first Legislative Day at the Washington State Capitol, meeting with more than 15 lawmakers to discuss the role of licensed pest management professionals in protecting public health and the environment. Members testified against HB 2516, sharing real-world concerns about rodent management. The day highlighted the power of member advocacy and strengthened WSPMA’s presence and relationships in Olympia.

Registration Now Open: Virtual Technical Session on Ants, Snails & Slugs
Education
Registration is now open for WSPMA’s virtual technical session, **Controlling Ants, Snails & Slugs: Using IPM Methods and Granular Baits**, on **February 10 from 7:30–8:30 AM**. Led by **James Rodriguez, ACE**, this one-hour training provides practical, science-based strategies for managing ants, snails, and slugs using IPM and granular baits. **$15 registration. One WSDA CEU will be applied for.**
