As an Association we strive to create an environment that allows industry awareness and a sense of comradery. Our relationships with Members of the WSPMA are open and honest and help to provide self discipline. NPMA Now Accepting Award Nominations and Grant Applications

NPMA

NPMA is now accepting nominations and applications for its 2025 awards and grants, including two new honors: the Excellence in Sustainability Award and the Culture Catalyst Award. Other categories include Emerging Leaders, NPMA Gives, and Women of Excellence, plus PWIPM Empowerment Grants. Nominations are due by June 30, 2025, and winners will be recognized at PestWorld 2025 in Orlando. Washington companies are encouraged to nominate local professionals through NPMA’s online portal.

Third Annual "PWIPM at the Park" Hits a Home Run for Connection and Growth

The third annual PWIPM at the Park was a success, bringing together 40 attendees from five companies at Cheney Stadium’s 1882 Club. Attendees enjoyed networking, sharing ideas, and cheering on the Tacoma Rainiers. Special thanks to LiphaTech and Jon Paulsen for sponsoring the event. WSPMA remains committed to supporting all employees through professional growth and invites members to get involved with PWIPM.

What Employers Need to Know About Changes to the Washington Fair Chance Act (EHB 1747)

Washington’s Fair Chance Act has been expanded under EHB 1747, changing when and how employers can access and use criminal background information. Starting in 2026–2027, pest control companies must delay background checks until after a conditional job offer and avoid blanket disqualifications. Employers must follow specific notice procedures before adverse actions and can face steep penalties for violations. WSPMA urges members to update hiring practices and train staff to remain compliant.

Highlights included tips for media outreach, updates on upcoming events like PWIPM at the Park, and the cancellation of the blood drive due to low turnout. Attendees also shared self-care strategies for busy season and began planning future meetings, including a May session on stress management with Jessica Townsend.
